Because the axle rating is extremely conservative on an F250 and certainly more capable than what is listed on the cab sticker. I think your year model has the exact same rear axle as an F350 SRW. The F350 has better springs with a much higher GAWR. I think about 7000+. Springs, excepted, it is the same differential.

If you want the truck to ride worse than it does now, put a lift kit on it. If you want it to ride better than stock do a PMF or SKY reverse shackle kit with 2000 to 2004 front leafs ... I've got the 2.5" Readylift and 37x12.5's on the stock wheels. They do rub the radius arms but its not bad enough to worry about. Go with 295/65-20. With both the 37's will fit a 2.5" but you will most likely encounter rubbing depending on wheel/tire combo. The 35's seem to be a better fit. I want to run 37 Toyo's because they have a higher load rating than the 35's. Full lock is 40 degrees turning angle and these rub at about 38, on the sway bar.
