The only work around, is during any game, I'l open overlay ALT+TAB, press F12, then can screenshot directly after closing the overlay WITHOUT pressing anything else besides F12. You're confusing things. The game has a screenshot tool as well as steam. Pressing F12 screenshots using the Steam Overlay, that can't be altered within FFXIV, you need to change it in the Steam settings. To take a screenshot using FFXIV instead of Steam, you need to hit the Print Screen button.
The issue is the FFXIV screenshots folder somehow became read-only, and when I try to disable it, it doesn't stick. (I'll click it off, it will act like it's updating permissions on the folder and all the files inside it, but when I check the properties again, it's back to read-only.)
