Niether of our cruze's ports at the head got really clogged. I did a lot of cleaning though on the surfaces and the reused connectors especially the turbo end. The updated manifold was by Dorman, they added a plastic retainer to keep the orange check valve from falling out. It still did not make any difference with the valve clogging up.
